If you have an inefficient refrigerator or freezer, you can recycle it at no cost and save.
An inefficient refrigerator or freezer may be costing you up to $125 per year to run. You can now responsibly recycle that refrigerator at no cost. You will save energy and money plus earn a rebate.
Save up to $125 per year
A $50 rebate is available to Eversource and United Illuminating electric customers that recycle their still working refrigerator or freezer.
How it Works
Step 1 – Determine your eligibility
Review the “Who is Eligible” section of this web page to determine if your appliance is eligible for no-cost pick up and the rebate.
Step 2 – Schedule your pickup
Customers may call ARCA at 888-997-8892 or schedule online. Have your electric account number handy.
Step 3 – Redeem your rebate
Your rebate check will arrive approximately 6 weeks after your pick up.
You must be a valid residential electric account holder of Eversource or United Illuminating.
- Due to concerns regarding the transmission of COVID-19, contactless pickup is available. Customers are asked if the unit works over the phone. ARCA works with the customer to determine the best place for the customer to leave the unit - for example, garage, adjacent to garage, porch or patio. ARCA then picks up the unit from the agreed upon location. If the unit is left outdoors, the customer is required to remove the door from the unit as a safety precaution. In-home pickup is also available. You may choose whichever option you are most comfortable with.
- Refrigerators and freezers must be in working condition and have an inside measurement between 10 and 30 cubic feet, which is the standard size for most units.
- A maximum of two units per electric account per calendar year will be accepted.
